Town Administrator's Office

The Town Administrator's Office is responsible for ensuring that the Town is being responsive to the needs of its customers, the citizens. This is accomplished by implementing Board of Town Commissioners policy, responding to citizen inquiries and concerns, exercising fiduciary prudence with Town monies, planning for the Town's future and communicating to the public what is being done.

The Town Administrator, Chris Schlehr, serves at the pleasure of the Board of Town Commissioners. The Town Administrator directs and supervises all departments and is the Town's Chief Executive Officer and serves in the capacity of Treasurer.

Chris is a graduate of Bel Air High School, has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Naval Academy, and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University. Chris served in the U. S. Navy and retired in 1992 as a Commander, Civil Engineer Corps, with 20 years of service.

Chris started working for the Town of Bel Air in 1992 as Director of Public Works. He accepted the position of Town Administrator in February 2000.

As Town Administrator, Chris works closely with homeowner associations, businesses and citizens of Bel Air. He values your opinions and strives for excellence in the Town's daily operations.
