2011 HOMETOWN HEROES BANNER PROGRAM
Accepting applications beginning on August 29, 2011
BEL AIR, MD – August 25, 2011 – The Bel Air Downtown Alliance is pleased to introduce the “2011 Hometown Heroes Banner Program” - a tribute to service men and women from the Harford County area who have served or are currently serving our country in a branch of the military, as well as, a way to celebrate and honor the 100th Anniversary of Veteran’s Day.
Each individual banner will be unique and will honor a specific Harford County area service man or woman. The banners will include their picture, branch of service, and era of service. The program is non-political and non-partisan. This effort is to serve as a living memorial to those service men and women from the Harford County area that have served or are currently serving in our military branches. Farmers' Market
Bel Air sponsors a “producers only” market on Tuesdays on the Boulton Street parking lot and on Saturdays at the Mary Risteau Building parking lot at 2 South Bond Street. Click here to go to the Farmers' Market website for current info.
First Fridays – Office Street by the Courthouse
Sponsored by the Bel Air Downtown Alliance, a free block party style outdoor celebration with live music is held the first Friday of each month, May to October from 5 to 8 p.m.
Independence Day - 4th of July Events
The Bel Air Independence Day Committee, Inc. is composed of volunteers and members of sponsoring organizations. The Committee provides the leadership and workers to plan and carry out the many activities of our celebration. Financial support is also received from many businesses and professional people in the Bel Air area. Lunchtime Concerts – Office Street by the Courthouse
Every Friday in May and September, the Town of Bel Air sponsors a free concert at 12 noon. Bring your own lunch or purchase food at the event. Tables and chairs are provided.
Outdoor Movies
The Bel Air Downtown Alliance sponsors free outdoor family movies on the big screen in Shamrock Park (behind Town Hall, 39 N. Hickory Avenue) on selected Friday evenings during the summer. Pre-movie entertainment starts at 7 p.m. Bring your own blanket or lawn chair. No rain dates. Click Here for a schedule.

Memorials & Donations
Park Development - This Town has several public parks that are suitable for living memorials and park furniture donations. Inquiries regarding available locations should be directed to the Planning Department.
Memorial Tree Grove - The Town Tree Committee developed a landscape plan for the Shamrock Park Memorial Tree Grove located off Lee Way. Numerous tree and shrub species may be selected for living memorials. A brochure is available at the Town office.
