Refuse, including recyclables and bulk items, should not be placed at the curb any earlier than 6:00 p.m. the night before it is scheduled for pickup. Yard waste and large metal items should not be mixed with regular refuse.

• Regular refuse collection is offered to all households once a week.
• Recyclables (paper products and metal, plastic, and glass containers are collected once a week
• Paper is alternated weekly with metal, plastic, and glass containers. 
• Collection of appliances, furniture, rubble, and other large bulk waste items is performed  Wednesdays by appointment only (24 hours notice is required).

DO NOT PLACE TRASH AT CURBSIDE BEFORE 6:00 P.M. THE DAY PRECEDING YOUR SCHEDULED PICK-UP.   section 9-307 of the town code states, in part, that refuse containers, “shall not be placed at the curb before 6:00 p.m. on the day preceding the collection and shall be removed before 9:00 a.m. on the day following the collection.”

SIZE OF REFUSE CONTAINERS:  Section 9-304 of the Town Code states, in part, that refuse containers, “shall not be less than 20 gallons nor more than 32 gallons, weigh no more than 40 pounds, be sanitary, rodent proof and equipped with tight-fitting lids.

SPECIAL & BULK WASTE PICK-UP COLLECTIONS:  Includes household generated refuse and yard waste. It Does Not include refuse or yard waste generated by “hired” contractors or family and friends living outside the Town. Bulk Waste (appliances, furniture, rubble, etc.) are performed BI-WEEKLY on Wednesday [Except for holidays falling on a regular trash day] by Appointment Only (24-hours notice required). Bulk Pick-Up Days are highlighted in Pink & Blue on the Recycling Calendar & Special Collections Schedule.

NOTE: The Town will provide a truck or dumpster at a homeowner’s residence for disposal of acceptable bulk material approved by the Town. Reservations of the truck or dumpster must be made in person at the Dept. of Public Works Office.
