Regular and Special Refuse Collection
Refuse, including recyclables and bulk items, should not be placed at the curb any earlier than 6:00 p.m. the night before it is scheduled for pickup. Yard waste and large metal items should not be mixed with regular refuse.
- Regular refuse collection is offered to all households once a week.
- Recyclables (paper products and metal, plastic, and glass containers are collected once a week. Paper is alternated weekly with metal, plastic, and galss containers.
- Collection of appliances, furniture, rubble, and other large bulk waste items is performed on Wednesdays by appointment only (24 hours notice is required).
Bagged Leaves/Grass Collection
Since leaves and grass clippings are recycled and not collected with regular trash, the Town of Bel Air's Department of Public Works collects them separately and delivers them to the compost facility at the Scarboro Landfill.
BAGGED LEAVES and BAGGED GRASS CLIPPINGS are collected ONLY on WEDNESDAYS, THURSDAYS, and FRIDAYS in designated areas (see map at right).
This service is offered year-round. However, due to minimal demand in the winter months, please call for pick-ups in January, February, and March. |  |
Loose Leaves Collection - October 1 through December 31
Loose leaves are picked up only during the period of October 1 to December 31. Collection is according to the map (see right).
During the month of November, collection hours are extended into the evening and on Saturdays in order to cope with the magnitude of leaves. Also, during November Wednesdays will be used to collect in areas not picked up due to the increased workload.
- NO call is necessary for pick-up service
- Rake leaves to curbside in a pile, leaving the gutter area clear
- Exclude brush and limbs from the pile

Loose Brush Collection
Requirements:
- Loose brush consists of limbs, branches, etc.
- Brush pick-up is initiated by call
- Citizens must call 24 hours in advance of the scheduled pick-up day (see map, right) to request a loose brush pick-up
Holiday Refuse Collection
Refuse Collection: If your scheduled refuse collection day falls on an official Town holiday, your refuse will be picked up on the Wednesday of that same week. There will be no bulk pick-up until the following week.
Recyclables Collection: If your scheduled recyclables collection day falls on an official Town holiday, check the local newspaper for the revised schedule.
Yard Waste Collection: If your scheduled yard waste collection day falls on an official Town holiday, your yard waste will be picked up the following week.
Place all trash at curbside sooner than 6:00 p.m. the day before the scheduled pick-up. |
