Board of Appeals


Role
 

The Board of Appeals hears and decides variances, special exceptions, cases involving non-conforming uses and appeals of departmental administrative decisions.  All decisions are based strictly on standards in the Development Regulations.  The Board meets on the third Thursday of each month, 6:00 at Town Hall located at 39 N. Hickory Avenue, when action is required.

Composition

The Board of Appeals is a five member body appointed by the Board of Town Commissioners to three-year terms. The board acts in a quasi-judicial role as dictated by the State of Maryland Article of the Maryland Annotated Code. Members must be a town resident and serve without compensation.
