Remembrance Opportunity
The Town has several public parks which have suitable landscape and amenities that may serve to commemorate the life of a citizen of Bel Air. Gardens, benches, playgrounds, fountains and athletic amenities may be donated to honor a resident, business owner or someone who has contributed to the Town in some way. In order to dedicate a park feature, the cost of acquiring and installing the amenity must be covered plus $150 related to future maintenance and provision of an appropriate marker. Inquiries regarding available locations should be directed to the Planning Department.Take a "walk" through the Memorial Tree Grove to view of the memorials and trees that have been dedicated.
The Town Tree Committee developed the Shamrock Park Memorial Tree Grove located across from the park adjacent to Lee Way near the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue. This grove is dedicated to the remembrance of Bel Air residents through the donation of a tree. A stone marker denotes each tree location, the species and the person to which it is dedicated. Numerous existing species may be selected or a new tree planted as a living memorial. The cost of contributing a new tree to the grove will depend on the cost of plant material and installation plus $150 for the marker.
To provide an opportunity for pet owners to remember their lost companions. The Town has designated an area in Rockfield Park as a Memorial Tree Grove. Sponsoring a tree in the grove would follow the same process and require the same funding that is required for the Shamrock Park grove.
