October 20, 2018 at the Bel Air Armory, 37 N. Main Street. The Harford Land Trust will host the 7th Annual Harvest Moon Dinner & Auction. HLT serves a vital role in preserving our rural heritage. The organization was founded in 1991 by a group of local residents who wanted to ensure that land with significant environmental, cultural, historical, or scenic value remained intact. Since its inception, the Trust and our partners have helped protect more than 11,000 acres of farms, forests, and wetlands. HLT currently owns or holds permanent conservation easements on nearly 1,500 acres of land throughout the county.

The Maryland Public Service Commission will hold a public comment hearing on the application of Maryland-American Water Company to increase its operating revenue by $1.8 million and approval of $15.4 million for improvements to the Bel Air impoundment and other projects. The hearing will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. at the Harford County Council Meeting Room, 212 South Bond Street in Bel Air. Members of the public who wish to comment on the matter are welcome to attend the hearing before Public Utility Law Judge Jennifer J. Grace.
Maryland-American Water Company serves approximately 5,000 customers in and around Bel Air, Maryland. According to the application, the proposed rates would result in a nearly 37 percent increase on the bill of the average residential customer.

The Maryland Public Service Commission will hold a public comment hearing October 24 on the request by the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE) for a net increase of $62 million in its gas distribution rates. BGE delivers natural gas to 650,000 customers in central Maryland.
The rate request would result in a nearly 7% increase on the average residential heating customer bill. For the average combined gas and electric service residential customer, the increase would amount to $5.67 per month.
